Drive safe and drive sensible!!

Since I ride to office everyday, I come across the most irritating scenes that happen on the road. It gets on to my nerves so much, that I have started losing the passion for riding.
Where do I even start lamenting about this? People have become very reckless, both pedestrians as well as people driving. They have become more bold and dare to do anything, be it wrong or right.
The pedestrians have lost even that little sense that used to prevail some years back, the signal light turns to green, and they are still crossing, why go so far they start crossing at that time.
What about those people who go from left to right and viceversa without indication? The main reason for most of the accidents. They just don care about looking out for the people driving behind them. Atrocious fools I must say.
The act that irritates me the most, must be happening in our country alone, people spitting out of the window! Especially from the bus. Excuse me, there are people all around you, we don't want the shower of your saliva, with what not mixed with it.
The next category of people with no empathy, the ones who smoke while driving. Fine may be there is this super duper urge for you to smoke, and that you cannot wait till u reach a smoking zone, but you can at least take care of not keeping your hands outside the window, with a cig in it, and not being bothered that the smoke goes directly into the lungs of the person riding along side and behind you. And worst part, if you get too close to them, they might even drop some hot ash on you, So beware!!!
What about those people who haven had an emission test done in years, and blow that huge chunk of smoke right into your nostrils, its so heavy that you forget that you need to breathe. What irritates me beyond the limits is, knowing that your vehicle will not start immediately, going to the first line of the signal and switching it off. When the light goes green all the people behind them keep standing till they get the vehicle started and move, as soon as we reach the signal, it ultimately goes red, and that person would have happily crossed the signal leaving tens of people gaping at them.
If you are in a hurry, and don't want to miss a meeting at the office, that's when you will be forced to drive behind a cycle, who not only rides really really slow in the heave traffic, but also makes sure you can never overtake him. Dangerous are those guys who cross the signal, after its just turned red thinking "why wait for another whole round of signal lights, I will just make it!" These people are crossing in high speed are at utmost danger because the lights have just turned green for another set of people, or for the pedestrians, you don want a head on collision, do you? Another act that drives me nuts is when, your standing at the signal with a red light, or your stuck in heavy traffic that is not moving and people behind you go on honking, dude I want to make this really clear, If I had place in front of me to move, I would surely do it, I need to reach my destination as well, I am not out here for a jay ride.. so back off with that blaring horn of yours!!
What about those people with these really loud indicators, which they never turn off even if its a five min wait at the signal, Irritating trust me! I also loathe the people who talk loud, really loud over the mobile, while at the signal. I don't need to know if your lying to to your boss for being late, or romancing your wife over the phone. Please keep it low, I for one am not interested!!

Its been some time I wanted to remove all this frustration in my post. Now that I am done I am actually a little relieved :)

Be cautious today, so that you don repent for it tomorrow!!

Some sights upset us a lot! What I saw today upset me deeply. I have heard its an amazing feeling to become a parent. But how many of them realise how much responsibility it brings with it. Today I saw a couple on a bike, the lady was in the pillion and had a baby in her hand. The baby might have been just a few months old. She had the baby sleeping across her lap, and the baby's head was protruding out, cause it had outgrown in height the width of its mom's lap.To see from a distance, it dint even look like she had a baby in her hand because it was all wrapped in a blanket and no part of the body or the dress was visible!

These days with the mad traffic in the city, people bang on to each others vehicles, don even stop to apologise and carry on. They ride so close that while riding, some times I feel scared to keep my foot on the road because of the fear that they might just ride on top of it. It has happened before!

When I saw this couple in front of me, and all the vehicles passing within centimeters I was aghast! Is this a way to deal with kids? Why not take an auto if your bringing along the kid with you? Is saving a buck more important than the security of the child? When will our middle class mentality change? Let alone risking each others lives, people are ready to risk the life of an infant! What is the value of a life in today's society? People are starting to forget the fact that life is one thing when gone can never be replaced!!

Please take an extra bit of caution when your on the road with kids. Please make sure they are safe. They are too innocent to understand the value of life. Guide them with it. Prefer for a four wheeler when commuting with a kid. Always face the oncoming traffic yourself and make the child walk on the other side. Please make sure to hold the hand of the child when ever on the road.

There are mad men riding their vehicles out there. Be cautious today, so that you don repent for it tomorrow!!

Parched lands will soon lead to parched throats

Can you answer this please? How many of us wash our face with the tap running? How many of us gargle our mouth with the tap running? Almost all of us!
The roads are filled with water tankers. People are vacating houses due to water scarcity. And I fear a day will come when we wont have enough water to drink, all we will be left with is salt water from the sea.
Its high time we address this major concern, and I plead that we do it as soon as possible. Well I should not even say as soon as possible. Cause it is very much possible, and lets do it from today, well why not from now?
Ground water levels are dipping, lands are drying up, rains are failing in a lot of places. Just imagine a life when we cannot wet that parched throat of ours. We cannot survive with out food and water, if there is no water there would be no food either.
My dear mates, wake up now! take that one easy step to save a few drops of water. Take caution, keep in mind we need not do this for the sake of our future generation, the water might not last for so long, We need to do it for us!
Lets just do the following acts in our day to day life
Don’t let water tanks over-flow. Install an automatic electronic-sensor, which is a one time investment.
Wash your fruits and vegetables in a pan of water instead of running water from the tap.
Collect the water you use for rinsing fruits and vegetables, then reuse it to water house plants.
Use a broom instead of a hose to clean your driveway and sidewalk and save water every time.
Turn off the water while brushing your teeth and save 25 gallons a month.
Turn off the water while you wash your hair to save up to 150 gallons a month.
Turn off the water while you shave and save up to 300 gallons a month

If you have read this, then please make a mental note to save water in every instance possible. I am going to do it from today.. are you?

Dedication and Commitment.. An ideal example!!

I keep telling my self, I should make it a habit to jot down those special things that i see day to day. Well the frequency of my blogging shows clearly I am no where close of achieving that.

This incident is some thing that happened yesterday, while I was travelling by bus. There are so many things that happen around us everyday, and when I see it through the eye of the spectator, it never fails to amaze me.

When ever I take a bus ride to office, I take the AC Volvo. On a typical Tuesday morning the common scene in the Volvo bus is people with head phones, news paper, books etc. The air is sophisticated. And the journey is quite monotonous.
Yesterday those buses were carrying people to the extent of indigestion, hence I took a normal bus, and the scene in this bus was totally different. I was sitting by the window with my head phones on, and the December edition of reader's digest. This is when an old lady, must be around 75 years, seated her self next to me. The first thing I noticed about her was a basket. She paid her ticket fare and the next thing she did was to pull a bunch of half dried coconut leaves out of her basket. She started splitting each small strand into 2 smaller strands, and them into further finer strands. Within seconds her hand was full with a bunch of finely articulated strands of coconut leaves. And there she started with a new bunch from the basket. Of course this would be used to create a broom stick, which she might sell off for a meager price.

My journey with her was for half an hour, and people came and went, bus got jam packed, then empty, but the thin framed little old lady was meticulously doing her job, dint once look up from her work. At first I was feeling uncomfortable with the smell and all, but once I started looking at her intently, I was lost in thought.

It amazed me, her dedication at this age touched my heart. Her determination to earn her buck on her own impressed me. We at this age would happily live on some one else's money if given a choice. But at the age of 75 or more, this old lady wants to live a life that would not burden any one else. She could have relaxed and rested her back to the seat, and closed her eyes to catch some rest during her travel, which we usually do, even after 8 to 9 hours of sleep. But no, there she was, already on duty, after collecting her raw material and on the way to work for the rest of the day. She wanted to make the best use of even that small period of time of her travel.

We don have to look for inspirations else where, there are people around us, doing their day to day job, but yet inspiring us, exciting us, giving us reason to believe in our selves. All that is required is for us to open our eyes, our mind and our heart to look at these people!!

What are we searching for? An answer or a solution??

Hi...
I try my level best to chip in to this blog every day, but it somehow doesn happen, today im gonna make up for all those lost days.
Starting this post I donno what to name it, cause I really donno what im goin to write about.
I was on leave today due to some small illness, and these are such days that make you think a lot, I used advice my friends to spend some time alone, thinking, and thats like the best answer to most of our questions, and also it gives us solution to lot of our problems.

Once we were discussing the difference between an answer and a solution!!
Ideally according to the dictionary:
An answer is a reply to a question or is a solution, a retaliation, or a response that is relevant to the said question
A solution to a problem will, metaphorically, make it dissolve. For example:
In mathematics, a solution is the result of equation solving - values which satisfy an equation
In business a solution is a product, service, or combination of both which is said to solve a business or consumer's problem; the term is often considered an overused and unimaginative buzzword

So an answer is a solution, then what is a solution?? If they are the same then why have two words at all?? Have you thought about it?

I feel an answer is some thin that is a reply, it need not solve what your problem is, but when we say we found a solution, then it means we have reached an ultimatum. Like in the subject history, there are answers, each one of us write big paragraphs and are marked. I may write the answer slightly different than you do, and both of us might end up getting the same marks.

On the other hand if you take math, there is a perfect solution to the problem, you get your full marks only when u arrive at that particular solution!! ( May be u achieve it using different methods ;)

So my point here is, we need to find solutions to our problems, but all we do is to look for answers, which is just temporary.
So go ahead and spend time with your self... ask your self what are those things thats been bothering you.. and put your first foot forward to solve it, stop searching just for answers, cause an answer is just a sign board, you need to reach your destination!!

If this is food for thought... Please let me know what you thought :) And now I found my title for this post ;)

Certification Exam! Oh ya???

Well every one knows about these domain certification exams!! Big names like Microsoft, SUN and IBM are the ones who give us these certificates...
But whats the big deal over here? The MS exam has 40 questions, For the ones who find it hard to rem too much too soon, take the 200 questions dump one week before, which comes with answers for the heights of comfort! The advice is to mug these up.. "Don worry you will clear, you have the dumps na, just chill" is what ul hear from every one...
And for the ones who have good memory can use theses dumps for one day!! And out of these 200 atleast 30 to 35 questions will come in the exam(based on ur luck) , that is if you have found the right dump, mind it..and for the rest you can search the forums and blogs... Mug up well, get a good score and your appraisal is confirmed!! If u fail, well the next attempt is free, if at all you fail that too, "its just 2500 bucks yaar, write again na" they say!!

What is this by the way?
worst than college exams, where we used ask the teacher to give us 10 questions, out of which she will give 5 in the internal exam!!!
But all this at a corporate level??? knowledge does not matter anymore!! If at all u fail, you can always pay and get it!! All for an appraisal, for incentives....for MONEY!!!!!!!
Lets make it harder, lets give it a fight, lets actually improve our knowledge... lets change the future!! the time is now!!

PS: Well I must admit, I fell prey to this too.. took up the exam my self today , and cleared it partially due to the dumps only.. I feel ashamed, but it was the need of the hour.. And I do wanna change it.. Hope think alikes out there would help me!!

Its high time we change the mentality

Yesterday we had British Council handing out a special offer to the associates of my company.
My brother had this membership, and I from when I was a kid, I always had this craze to have one, I used to be fascinated by its sophistication, and this is no surprise cause of my love towards books.
Finally yesterday I got my chance and went ahead and got the registration. They gave me a complimentary back pack, about which I remembered reading in the mail, only after they gave it to me.
I have a close friend, who like me, loves to read and has a great command over English which I fancy very much :) I was telling him today about my membership, thinking he would appreciate my action, and in reply he said "every one is crazy for the bag"
Initially I felt offended, later I actually heard and saw many people bragging about getting this membership, to get a bag!!!!! whose amount will be eventually reimbursed by the company. Which implies getting the bag for free and also a library membership, which they would never use!!
Why do people have such mentality?? Why does anything for free make people lose their morals? Is it the same all over the world, or is it just here?? This is a key marketing strategy for companies...
All said and done, what about the people who actually wanted the membership, for purposes truly related to the council alone? Our dedication and motive is lost in front of such people.
Its my request to such people to please think again, and make a choice based on the true purpose, and not on the basis of free gifts!!
